Top 20 advertisers contributed to 51% ad volumes in 2020: BARC

NEW DELHI: Broadcast Audience Research Council has recently released data that states that the top 20 advertisers of the country contributed to 51 per cent of the ad volumes in 2020.

Last year, the top 20 advertisers increased the volume of their ads by 10 per cent over 2019. The top 20 advertisers are as follows. Hindustan Unilever was the biggest advertiser in 2020 with a 30 per cent growth in ad volumes over 2019, followed by the Reckitt Benckiser Group, with their ad volumes growing by 37 per cent in 2020 over 2019.

In 2020, the top 20 brands increased their ad volumes by 23 per cent as compared to 2019. Ad volumes for Dettol Toilet Soaps and Dettol Antiseptic Liquid, went up by 118 per cent and 136 per cent respectively, responding to the pandemic and resulting skyrocketing demand for personal and home hygiene products. Horlicks ad volumes also surged by 60 per cent in 2020 as compared to 2019.

During the peak lockdown in April and May, the ad volumes for digital brands was the highest at 16 per cent and 13 per cent respectively as compared to the month of January 2020. The highest ad volumes share for digital brands in 2019 was at 9 per cent in the months of March, September and December.
