Sahara spreads wings in print arena: launches 3 publications

MUMBAI: It is not just Sahara Manoranjan that Subrata Roy and company are concentrating on. Roy has launched three new weeklies in English, Hindi and Urdu.
The publications are Sahara Time in English, Sahara Samay in Hindi and Aalmi Sahara in Urdu. Sahara Time, a 48-page broadsheet news weekly in English with one national and four regional (Delhi, Lucknow, Mumbai and Pune) encompasses a wide spectrum of local, national and international news, issues and analyses and has top-of-the-line writer and columnists. While conceiving Sahara Time, the one and only priority is to bring out a weekly newspaper, which is not merely a cut above the rest but the one, which has never existed in the country before, say Sahara officials.
This new genre newspaper, with an out and out international look and format, covers a variety and range of international, national, regional and local news. In its city-centric editions, the newspaper will cater to the needs, dreams and aspirations of the people of that particular city. Its other attractive features include: exhaustive TV and film coverage, in-depth coverage of regional news, sports coverage, interactive games for the whole family, lifestyle and leisure, development news and a section for children.
Meanwhile Sahara Samay begins with the motto Sahara Samay implies absolute truth. It blends positive, constructive, investigative news, views and entertainment. It's four sections provide a mix of news views, people, life, entertainment and regional news. The cover story is an exclusive interview with prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and the side piece tells a painful, sad tale of how the son of a maid servant was reduced to a dog's existence by a cruel man. The other pages have a wide variety, from power politics, bureaucracy, corporate, business, sports, film etc.
Aalmi Sahara is postioned as a new milestone in Urdu journalism, with particular reference to international journalism. Apart from national, international politics, the weekly also features society, literature, history, film and entertainment.
