• WB launches 'Star Trek' initiative

    MUMBAI: WB has kicked off an initiative this month that beams viewers into the intergalactic world of ?Star Trek?.

    The channel will air ?Star Trek? movies every Friday and Saturday at 11 pm from 2- 17 September.

    There is also a contest for WB viewers as they stand to win Star Trek merchandise. Viewers need to watch the Star Trek movies on WB and answer three simple questions every week which will appear during every break of the Star Trek films. To participate, viewers have to SMS WB followed by the answer to 58888 to win prizes. Bumper Prize is a Nintendo WII with Star Trek Legacy game. Weekly prizes are Star Trek character figurines (Captain Kirk, Spock & Dr McCoy) and Star Trek badge replicas.

    Star Trek is being promoted across on-air, off-air and online platforms. The marketing campaign includes print partnerships with Mail Today, Mid Day and Time-Out to create buzz about the line-up. WB ?Star Trek? interactive banners will run on Bookmyshow.com and movie buffs can also log-on to the dedicated Star Trek page on WB facebook fan page to get regular updates.

    MUMBAI: Hollywood Suite, which consists of four high?definition movie channels, has announced its launch across Canada this November.

    Featuring commercial?free HD movies 24/7, uncut and unedited, Hollywood Suite is the home of movie channels from both Warner Bros. and MGM.

    The announcement to bring these motion picture studio brands to Canadian television was made by Warner Bros. International Television president Jeffrey R. Schlesinger, MGM Worldwide Networks president Bruce Tuchman and Hollywood Suite chairman and co?founder Jay Switzer.

Available across Canada, subscribers can choose from over 450 different movie titles every month on television ? with a selection available on demand, on?line and on mobile ? all for one low monthly fee from their television service provider.

    MUMBAI: Filmmaker Brett Ratner ?Red Dragon‘ and Don Mischer will produce the 84th Academy Awards telecast, Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences president Tom Sherak announced.

    This will be Ratner‘s first involvement with the Oscar show; Mischer will for the second year in a row serve as a producer and as the telecast director.
     
    Academy Awards for outstanding film achievements of 2011 will be presented on 26 February 2012, at the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center, and televised live on the ABC in the US. The Oscar presentation also will be televised live in more than 200 countries worldwide including in India on Star Movies.

    Sherak said, "I was so impressed with Brett when I met with him to discuss the Oscar show. He has an incredible love of film and its history and is a true student of the business of movies. He‘s unbelievably creative and knows how to take risks that are both interesting and inspiring. Together with Don Mischer ? who, by the way, just earned an Emmy nomination for his work on the 83rd Academy Awards ? I think these two will give us a fantastic Oscar show that you won‘t want to miss."

    Academy CEO Dawn Hudson said, "I‘m thrilled that Don will again bring his tremendous expertise to the Oscar telecast. And Brett has a really smart and fresh take for the show. They have great chemistry, and their vision meshed so well with ours."

    Mischer said, "The Academy Awards are in a class by themselves, and I‘m elated that the Academy has asked me to return.
