OTT summit Vidnet returns with first virtual edition

An exciting ride full of innovations and new milestones is waiting for streaming players.


KOLKATA: Indiantelevision.com’s flagship OTT summit Vidnet is back with its latest edition. Like other large industry summits in the post-pandemic era, Vidnet is also going virtual this year. 2020 has been an inflection point for the OTT ecosystem as the platforms have seen manifold growth in all metrics. With 2021 here, experts believe a more exciting ride full of innovations and new milestones is waiting for the streaming players.

The OTT market in India, the fastest-growing in the world, will surpass that of South Korea, Germany, and Australia to become the sixth-largest by 2024, according to a PwC report. Currently, it is expanding at a CAGR of 28.6 per cent.

Top executives from leading platforms – MX Player head of marketing & business partnerships Abhishek Joshi, Sony Pictures Networks India SVP & head - programming & new initiatives, digital business Amogh Dusad, Viacom18 Studios COO Ajit Andhare, Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story writer-director Jai Mehta, MX Player CEO Karan Bedi, Shemaroo Entertainment Ltd's COO Kranti Gada, StarzPlay Arabia CCO Danny Bates, ALTBalaji chief technology officer Shahabuddin Sheikh, Reliance Entertainment group CEO Shibasish Sarkar, and many more – will come together to speak about the transforming ecosystem. The sessions will range from content trends to business models, technical innovations.

The summit will try to seek answers on what is the way forward for OTT platforms, if advertisers and advertising step up along with issues like how to increase ARPUs, where the next set of users will come from.
