MUMBAI: Leading direct-to-home (DTH) opertator Tata Sky's subscribers will have access to broadcasters' revised channel prices from 23 April. The platform will also feature new and renamed packs. Some packs, however, have been withdrawn.

Major broadcasters TV18 and Viacom18 have revised price for many channels, the change is noticeable predominantly in regional channels and niche channels like News18 Bangla, Colors Infinity, MTV Beats. While majority of the broadcasters have reduced their channel prices, lifestyle channel Food Food is the only one which has increased its price from Rs 0.30 to Rs 1.00.

The new tariff order mandated by The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has put power in hands of consumers to choose channels as per their own choice. Though the motif of the new regime is positive indeed, the massive change is causing uncertainty in the ecosystem.

The leading DTH operator Tata Sky  has itself also launched new packs starting at Rs 139. The major DTH player is rolling out six new packs with effect from 23 April 2019. The pack consists of two sports channel packs and four regional channel packs for Gujarati and Odia.
