Fox Reality channel officially launches Tuesday on DirecTV

MUMBAI: US viewers can now have their fill and more of reality shows. Fox Reality channel officially starts beaming from 31 May on satellite TV service DirecTV.

The channel will be also available to Insight Communications subscribers.

A point of note is that Fox Reality is similar in one respect to Star India's Utsav channel - both Fox Reality and Utsav are re-run channels in that they basically air repeats of shows that have aired earlier run on their respective networks. Both channels being News Corp entities is the other common factor.

Fox Reality's first programming will feature Joe Millionaire from season one, an episode of Cops and World's Most Shocking Moments: Caught on Tape.

The channel will also air repeats of US reality TV shows like Last Comic Standing and Extreme Dating.

According to media reports, at present approximately 14.4 million homes subscribe to DirecTV. The channel was first announced about a year ago.

The channel also plans to import shows from international TV markets, such as Temptation Island Australia or The Villa in the United Kingdom.

In a joint statement issued by both Fox TV and Direc TV, The reality channel will also feature new 'bonus outtakes' from the shows, interviews with the players and never-before-seen footage.

Fox Reality channel and Direct TV are both controlled by Rupert Murdoch's News Corp Ltd.
