TRP scam: Bombay HC refuses to transfer Partho Dasgupta to private hospital

The bail plea to be heard on Monday

NEW DELHI: Taking cognisance of Taloja jail’s medical officers assurance that they would continue treating alleged TRP scam accused former BARC CEO Partho Dasgupta in accordance with the JJ Hospital discharge note, the Bombay HC has refused to intervene in his transfer to the prison.

Dasgupta, in an urgent plea, had requested the court to shift him to a private hospital owing to his ill health or to be granted interim bail for two weeks instead of being shifted back to Taloja jail. Dasgupta’s lawyer had submitted a video of Dasgupta being discharged from JJ Hospital on a stretcher arguing that he was discharged despite being unfit.

Further, the court has posted Dasgupta’s bail plea application for hearing on Monday directing the state to submit all his medical records at the time of the hearing.

In related news, the Congress Working Committee (CWC) has passed a resolution demanding a time-bound probe by a Joint Parliamentary Committee into the Arnab Goswami-Partho Dasgupta WhatsApp conversation, asserting that the “shocking revelations” have “endangered national security.”
