MUMBAI: The Asian Golf Tour, the body for professional golf in Asia has launched the Asian Tour Weekly.

The television magazine show aims at giving a new perspective on Asian golf. The weekly show premieres in Asia on 5 August and is scheduled to air 18 episodes this year.

The programme showcases Asian players making an impact in the game today, their quest for victory and the latest golf news in Asia and around the world. Additional segments include interesting tips for golf enthusiasts straight from the Asian Tour players, reviews of recent tournaments and the latest developments in the game.

The Asian Tour CEO Louis Martin added, "A new generation of Asian golfers like India's Jyoti Randhawa, China's Zhang Lian-wei and Thailand's Thongchai Jaidee are following the path inspired by the likes of Vijay Singh and KJ Choi.

"The Asian Tour Weekly tells their stories, follows them in their pursuit of success as they embrace the challenges of playing on the Asian Tour and strive to reach the pinnacle of the professional game."

The programme will be available to over 100 million homes across the region on channels such as CCTV 5 (China), NTV7 (Malaysia), Mediacorp (Singapore), TVB (Hong Kong), SBS Golf 44 (Korea), Metro TV (Indonesia), Channel 7 (Thailand) and CTS (Taiwan).
