Live telecast of Golden Globes on Star World 19 Jan

MUMBAI: The 60th Golden Globe Awards, which will be handed out on 19 January at Merv Griffin's Beverly Hilton Hotel in California, will be telecast live on Star World.
The awards, instituted by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, is one of the few awards ceremonies that span both television and motion picture achievements.


Gene Hackman will receive this year's Cecil B. DeMille Award from the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for his "outstanding contribution to the entertainment field," states a release.


The Golden Globes will be seen in more than 130 countries worldwide. It will be telecast live on Star World on 20 January at 6:30 am (IST) with repeat telecasts at 5 pm and 9:30 pm.
The nominee list for various categories in film and television include Daniel Day-Lewis, Leonardo di Caprio, Jack Nicholson, Richard Gere, Hugh Grant, Paul Newman, Nicole Kidman, Meryl Streep, Goldie Hawn, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Susan Sarandon, Martin Sheen, Kiefer Sutherland, Jennifer Aniston and Sarah Jessica Parker, to name a few.
The list of presenters for the awards include Arnold Schwarzenegger, Halle Berry, Pierce Brosnan, Madonna, Brad Pitt, Sharon Stone along with Harrison Ford, Carol Burnett and Elton John.


The nominations under various categories for television are:

24, The Shield, Six Feet Under,The Sopranos and The West Wing.
Best Performance By An Actress In A Television Series, Drama: 
Allison Janney for The West Wing, Edie Falco for The Sopranos, Jennifer Garner for Alias, Marg Helgenberger for CSI: Crime Scene Investigation and Rachel Griffiths for Six Feet Under.
Best Performance By An Actor In A Television Series, Drama: 
James Gandolfini for The Sopranos, Kiefer Sutherland for 24, Martin Sheen for The West Wing, Michael Chiklis for The Shield and Peter Krause for Six Feet Under.
Best Television Series - Musical Or Comedy:
Curb Your Enthusiasm, Friends, Sex and the City, The Simpsons and Will & Grace.
Best Performance By An Actress In A Television Series,Musical Or Comedy:
Bonnie for Hunt for Life with Bonnie, Debra Messing for Will & Grace, Jane Kaczmarek for Malcolm in the Middle, Jennifer Aniston for Friends and Sarah Jessica Parker for Sex and the City.
