Indian Telly Awards jury meet kick starts

MUMBAI: The jury meet for the Indian Telly Awards 2003 kicked off on 11 September as per schedule with full jury attendance.
The jury members included some exemplary names from the media world like Prasoon Joshi, Lekh Tandon, Rakesh Sharma, Shailaja Bajpai, AG Krishnamurthy, Vanita Kohli-Khandekar, Sabira Merchant, Rathikant Basu, Shanta Gokhale, Kiran Juneja and actor Kanwaljit Singh.
The judging process began at 9.30 am at the Leela Kempinski Hotel in Mumbai and continued through the day. At the end of Day 1, a final list of five nominees in seven categories were decided. In two of the categories there was some heated debates but after some cogent arguments a unanimous decision was finally reached.
The winners of the Telly Awards is being decided through a process of judging and polling. The judging is being done by three eminent juries for the technical, popular and life time contribution categories and consist of professionals who have excelled in entertainment (more specifically television) or its coverage in print.
In the first four days (11-14 September) the jury is shortlisting the Popular Awards catergories. The Technical Awards categories will be shorlisted on 14-15 September.
