'HumLog's' Nanhe to anchor evening show on Zee News

MUMBAI: Having not-so-successfully flirted with success on the big screen, television's Nanhe, aka Abhinav Chaturvedi, is back to where he started the stardom trek: the small screen.

Chaturvedi, who shot to fame via Doordarshan's HumLog serial in the mid 1980s when television did not offer the array of entertianment that it does now, is scheduled to host an evening show for Zee News.

Contacted by Indiantelevision.com, Zee Telefilms news director Laxmi N Goel confirmed the development, saying, "Abhinav Chaturvedi, who possesses theatrical background, can well do justice to the type of evening show that we are planning."

Goel, however, refused to hand out details of the proposed show, stating that the early evening show's content and format is still in a formative stage. What is known is that the proposed show is likely to be an evening equivalent of morning shows that could be seen on various TV channels. The show is aiming to also have a round-up of the latest news of the day as one segment.

As and when Chaturvedi and Zee News sign on the dotted line of the contract, it'd be another attempt of the country's first Hindi news channel to add some variety to its programming line up.

In an innovative move recently, Zee News starting airing a show where the anchor is a former finance minister of the country.

The Yashwant Sinha-hosted Andaaz Apna Apna takes a look at the socio-economic condition of people from various walks of life in today's India. The proposed evening show, going by the current working title of High Tea, is being designed in a way so that viewers can snack on a bit of lifestyle, some celebrity talk and entertainment-related news.

A product of Delhi's Modern School, Chaturvedi shot to fame through HumLog, which portrayed the middle class life of a family living in a middle class area called Janta Colony. The serial that ran for over a year in 1984-85, still a short sting compared top today's saas-bahu soaps --- had the nation glued to the small screen.

Chatrurvedi has a theatrical background and has acted in a few movies like Subhash Ghai's Saudagar (1991), Suryavanshi (1992) and a tele-serial Akanksha.
