MUMBAI: Asiasat and Satlink Communications have launched a Multiple Channels per Carrier (MCPC) digital platform on Asiasat 2 satellite's C-band coverage beam.

Satlink provides end-to-end solutions for content transmissions over satellite platforms

The new platform offers connectivity from Europe to Asia and Australasia. The new platform will enable European broadcasters to expand their potential coverage to the Asia Pacific region through Satlink's turnaround and transmission facilities in Israel. AsiaSat 2 offers C-band coverage that stretches from Turkey and Egypt to Australia and New Zealand.

Satlink will provide broadcasters with a single-hop transmission solution to distribute their channels to cable head-ends, rebroadcasters and individual home viewers in the region. The footprint also allows European corporations to establish connectivity with their offices in Asia and Australasia.

Asiasat CEO Peter Jackson said, "This partnership supports our strategy to further develop neighbourhood and penetration. We anticipate that the addition of this cost effective platform will attract more broadcasters and corporate users to enjoy the power, coverage and access offered by AsiaSat 2."
