MUMBAI: Vissa TV, the Telugu channel from the Raj TV fold, launches today. Marred by hiccups and delays ( it was earlier scheduled to launch a month ago), Vissa enters a space dominated by Gemini, ETV and DD's Telugu version.

The channel will be flagged off in Hyderabad today at the hands of Andhra Pradesh chief minister Chandrababu Naidu. The Chennai-based company has already invested Rs 150 million on the Vissa project thus far and the company intends to incur a further Rs 200 to Rs 250 million in the coming years to acquire 250 films and create content, according to reports quoting associate vice president, sales and marketing R Radhakrishnan.

Innovative programmes, three news bulletins in Telugu and one in Hindi, each of 30 minutes duration, have been scheduled on the channel, for a start. Three months from now, the Vissa programmes would be beamed in the US, UK and Canada as well, reports say.
