Infront signs football World Cup TV rights deal in Indonesia

MUMBAI: Infront Sports & Media and PT Surya Citra Televisi (STCV) have signed an agreement for the Indonesian broadcast rights to the 2006 Fifa World Cup and the FIFA Additional Events 2003 - 2006.
The television network is a leading, free-to-air national broadcaster in Indonesia and a new television partner for Fifa and Infront. Indonesia has South East Asia’s largest population at 219.9 million.
SCTV's Reza Pribadi added, "We are delighted with the agreement with Infront, which secures the 2006 Fifa World Cup for our network, as well as the other important FIFA additional events. Interest in football has been at an all time high in Asia following the successful 2002 Fifa World Cup in Korea and Japan and we look forward to 2006 with keen anticipation."'
Infront Sports & Media is Fifa's exclusive television partner. The organisations CEO Oscar Frei said, "Indonesia is an important market in Southeast Asia, by virtue of its size and football enthusiasm. It is good that we will be working with a national broadcaster, who will deliver the maximum audience and give the Fifa events the exposure they deserve".
The STCV agreement follows a series of recent announcements from Infront, including with NOS for Holland, Hong Kong Cable for Hong Kong and Leading Independent Media (LiM) for the territory of Sub Saharan Africa.
