MUMBAI: Attacked in the line of duty! A Star News crew was manhandled by employees at Rail Bhavan in New Delhi yesterday. Reason: they were on a fact-finding mission to ascertain whether a surprise check by railway minister Laloo Prasad Yadav on Tuesday, where several hundred late-comers were sent them back home, had had any impact.

According to a press release issued by the news channel, the media crew was at the Bhavan to capture the employees’ reactions to Yadav's visit.

Some employees who were caught on camera coming in late again got enraged and attacked the team, the release says. The Star News cameraman was manhandled and the enraged employees even tried to destroy his camera. It needed the timely intervention of the Delhi Police to bring situation under control.

Ministry officials have tendered a formal apology to Star News for the assult. In an official statement, the railway minister has been quoted as saying an inquiry had been ordered into the incid
