Mumbai: As per the latest data released by the Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC), CNN–News18 has topped the English news genre consecutively for 50 weeks with a 35.7 per cent market share in India’s TG 2+ segment. (BARC; market share%, TG: 2+, India, Wk 16’22- Wk 13’22, All days, 24 Hrs)
CNN-News18 outperformed top news channels such as Republic TV, Times Now, India Today TV and others. The market share of Republic TV stood at 28 per cent, whereas the market share of Times Now was at 23% and India Today TV at 6.2 per cent.
Speaking on the channel’s leadership, CNN-News18 managing editor Zakka Jacob said, "I think this is an incredible achievement for CNN-News18. 50 weeks is a half-century in cricketing terms. It's almost a year of being No.1. This couldn't have been possible without the loyal and steadfast support of all our viewers. It's a testimony to sane and sober news without any hyperventilation. It's also a big thumbs up to the young team at CNN-News18. But we are only getting started. Abhi toh century baaki hai."
Since BARC resumed ratings for the English news genre in March 2022, CNN-News18 has consistently outperformed its competitors.
