Charity lunch offer with Murdoch gets $ 25,100 bid

MUMBAI: On the last day (today) of a week-long auction on eBay, the public is yet to whet up a serious appetite for the offer of lunch with the world's most powerful media mogul, Rupert Murdoch.

The charity auction, in aid of the Jerusalem College of Technology, had a reserve price of $25,000 and till the time of filing had attracted two bidders. The highest bid came in from a "Norman Rentrop", $100 higher than the first bid which was at the reserve price.

Media reports have speculated on whether the bidder could be German publisher Norman Rentrop, chairman of the Verlag fur die Deutsche Wirtschaft (Publishing House for the German Business World) who owns 14 per cent of German football club, Borussia Dortmund.

The JCT was founded in 1969 and is one of Israels major academic institutions of higher education specializing in high-tech engineering and industrial management.
