Discovery to premier 'World Birth Day 2003' on 11 May

MUMBAI: What better way to celebrate Mother's day than to celebrate miracle of birth. One Alliance's infotainment branch Discovery will be celebrating Mothers day by launching World Birth Day 2003.

The two hour special that premiers on Sunday 11 May at 7 pm will offer viewers a glimpse into the unique traditions and preparations surrounding the birth of a child, the infant's first day of life and how, universally, the new entrant changes the lives of parents and family members, says an Discovery release.
After spaning the world- with team stationed at 18 time zones, the channel captured families sharing the common experience of childbirth in eight countries across five continents on the same day, India, Afghanistan, Argentina, Japan, Northern Ireland, Russia, South Africa and USA.
In India, the channel team visited expectant parent Ritu and Ramesh placed in Mumbai. Since Ritu had suffered two miscarriage, doctors had scheduled cesarean for the expecting mother. With the channel crew filming the emotions experienced by mothers before, during and after giving birth the footage provides viewers with a glimpse of the obvious elation after a birth of a son, says an release.


The World Birth Day portrays families from diverse ethnic, cultural, political and economic backgrounds and contrasts the very different preparations.
In as real as it gets kind of reality show, the channel will be showcasing the emotions experienced by mothers before, during and after giving birth, providing viewers peek into lives of families drastically different from one another.
