AXN India set to launch crime drama series 'Numb3rs'

MUMBAI: AXN India will kick-start a crime-drama series titled Numb3rs from 12 November at 7 pm.

Based on actual cases, executive producers Tony and Ridley Scott have directed these real-life events into a crime drama that depicts how math can give direction to answers in the most confounding crimes.

Filled with intrigue and drama, Numb3rs has FBI agents solving baffling cases with the help of a mathematician, states an official release.

The show revolves around Don Eppes, an FBI Agent with a secret weapon - his mathematical genius of a brother, Charlie. He recruits Charlie to solve crime using mathematical equations, which pinpoints the origins of the crime. Don is a dedicated and seasoned investigator who deals with hard facts and evidence while Charlie functions in a world of mathematical probabilities, equations, algorithms and science.

Mathematical equations used in real cases have proven to be effective solutions. An episode in the show relates to a case that dates back to the late 1990s. A serial rape crime in Louisiana, USA, was cracked because a Canadian police detective developed a formula that determined the likely residence location of the perpetrator, based on the pattern of locations of the crimes.

With a refreshing focus on family, Numb3rs plays out the quirky fraternal energy between Don and Charlie as it weaves in the tight relationship with their father, Alan Eppes.

Generating a big viewership of 25 million in the US for its pilot, 'Numb3rs' has become an instant hit series in the US. The superb reception of the show is not surprising with its talented cast and executive producers Tony and Ridley Scott, both who have their knees deep in award winning action films like Enemy of the State and Black Hawk Down, Gladiator and Blade Runner. Their film styles are prominently evident in the action-packed scenes in Numb3rs, the release adds.

The lead Rob Morrow, who plays Don Eppes, is best known for his role in Northern Exposure which won him 3 Golden Globes and 2 Emmy nominations. While David Krumholtz (Charlie Eppes) is probably best remembered for his supporting performance to Rob Lowe in the Lyon's Den (2003).
