MUMBAI: Animal Planet has announced the launch of a new series New Faces. Starting 23 August, New Faces will air Monday - Friday at 10:00 pm.
The channel will also be introducing a set of new anchors for the series.
The Predator's ball which premiers on Monday 23 August at 10:00 pm has "Mad" Mike Penman and Mark Tennant who are skilful, but unconventional safari guides and wildlife photographers who have teamed up to track and photograph Africa's wild animals, the release adds.
In Animal Precinct: Staten Island Dogs and Horse Neglect which starts on 24 August has anchor special investigator Annemarie Lucas following up on a report that a dog has been starved to death at a house on Staten Island, New York. With her partner, special agent Joann Sandano, Lucas sets out to uncover exactly what has happened and to make sure that wilful neglect does not go unpunished.
Bruce George will host The Snake Buster which premiers on 25 August at 10:00 pm. Licensed by the Department of Conservation and Land Management, Bruce is one of the rare few in Australia who enjoys removing snakes from domestic situations, informs an official release. In the show he meets up with Bryan Fry, the Australian sea snake expert. Together they survey as many sea snakes as they can, as well as catch two of the most deadly snakes. Bruce also travels to Northern Queensland, the state that boasts the most deadly snakes in Australia to find the Taipan, the world's deadliest snake.
Photographer, adventurer, herpetologist and Animal Planet's exciting new face, Austin Stevens who is a true snake fanatic, anchor seven Deadly Strikes, which will air every Thursday starting 26 August. His mission is to find, catch and photograph Africa's seven most feared snakes, the most venomous in the world.
TV news reporter turned filmmaker-naturalist Lyndal Davies anchors Lyndal's Lifeline, which airs on Fridays starting 27 August. The koalas of Australia are in big trouble and Davies who is headed for her hometown; Brisbane tries to get them back to the wild. Lyndal also visits Kangaroo Island in South Australia to show viewers giant koalas.
Discovery communications India director marketing Aditya Tripathi said, "Animal Planet has created several famous television personalities like Steve Irwin - the Croc Hunter and Jeff Corwin. The six new faces on the channel promise to be just as entertaining. However, each of them is an animal expert in their own right, so they are fully qualified to work with the animals and bring out the best in them too."
