HFPA selects Mavis Spencer as Miss Golden Globe

MUMBAI: Mavis Spencer has been selected as Miss Golden Globe for The 67th Annual Golden Globe Awards by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA).

Traditionally, Miss Golden Globe, who assists in the Golden Globes ceremony, is the daughter of a well-known celebrity. The eighteen-year old Mavis happens to be the daughter of Golden Globe winner Alfre Woodard and writer/producer Roderick Spencer.

Exclaimed Mavis, "It means a lot to me as a young person to be a part of something with such a rich history. I know how my mom feels when she brings home a statue. And to hand someone a token of their accomplishments when they‘re elated will just be really cool. I have memories of my mom traipsing off to the Globes, but this year she‘s with me! And we‘re going to have so much fun."

Mavis has earlier appeared in Teen Vogue and InStyle Magazine. She plans to model and study acting at Columbia, while continuing her already illustrious career in ‘Equestrienne Show Jumping‘.

Previous Miss Golden Globe honorees include Rumer Willis (daughter of Demi Moore and Bruce Willis), Laura Dern (daughter of Diane Ladd and Bruce Dern), Joely Fisher (daughter of Connie Stevens and Eddie Fisher) and Melanie Griffith (daughter of Tippi Hedren).

Nominations for "The 67th Annual Golden Globe Awards" will be announced on 15 December and The 67th Annual Golden Globe Awards will be held on 17 January
