obile Expo '05 opens to innovative marketing stunts, latest handsets

DELHI: The first Mobile Expo, which is being organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Indian Cellular Association and the Department of Telecommunication has been buzzing with activity in Delhi's Pragati Maidan. Latest mobile handsets, music, dancing magicians and fashion shows have been the crowd pullers at the Expo.
 
 
The Expo has handset manufacturers and mobile service providers vying for customers' attention. Nokia and Sony Ericsson have huge stalls inside. Sony Ericsson, which has put their S700i and K700i models on display, has young boys doing stunts on roller skates and skate boards to attract attention.

 
 
Nokia has its van parked at the entrance is marketing the multilingual handsets which allow the users to connect with their loved ones through the Saras Mobile Sandesh (SMS), which is the Hindi translation of Short Messaging Service.
 
 
The Samsung stall, on the other hand, has the fastest SMS contest going. Samsung's SGH-i700 is on display.
LG displayed latest 3G collections demos of PDAs and high-end phones like Motorola's V3 RAZR proved crowd pullers. Haier's showcase included a suave pencil-like model. Philips' 355 aroused interest.

Mobile service provider Hutch had mobile television that did rounds of the hall trying to hook people to the Hutch mobile service. Airtel's wireless handset, Blackberry, on display at the Mobile Expo, offer the best wireless data experience.
