Mumbai: Today, women are breaking the glass ceiling in every sector. Beyond all this, there still exists a patriarchal mindset. Not many women are in the C-suite taking important decisions. And, of course, there still exists pay parity.

This Women’s Day, we, at Indiantelevision.com, are acknowledging some women leaders of the media, marketing, and advertising fraternity and also from other professions, who have given more than expected.

Her journey

I have 12+ years of experience working in sales and marketing. After passing out of NMIMS post my MBA I started my career in FMCG doing frontline sales with Unilever in East across urban and rural markets.

In 2015 I joined the sunrise sector of e-commerce at Snapdeal where I head marketing strategy for all exclusive launches.

In 2017 I joined HMD to relaunch Nokia in India and after a slew of successful launches, it was time for an even bigger adventure.

In 2019 I was blessed with my second daughter and I took a maternity break till I joined the workforce in 2021 within the fashion industry at DaMENSCH.

I have had the amazing opportunity of working across industries and organisations of varying sizes and cultures and I believe each one has shaped the person I am today

Her inspiration and inspiring the team

My inspiration is Falguni Nayar who in her 50s decided to be an entrepreneur. She has rewritten the rules of entrepreneurship and I am inspired by her success story.

I have always admired Indira Nooyi and something she said stays with me forever-"When you reach the top, send the elevator back". Hence I try to inspire my teammates by pushing them and empowering them in their own journeys because each woman owes it to the other woman. From creating portfolios to advice on personal life, they know there is an ear that will patiently hear and a heart that will only have the best intentions.

I have two daughters and I constantly tell everyone I meet that I do this for them so they grow up seeing that being a woman doesn't mean having to choose between personal and professional life, you can have both

Empowerment of women

My team has young girls who look for career advice, mid-aged executives who look for guidance on work-life balance and leaders who want to be mentored for the big league.

In being able to identify their individual needs and offer a mentorship which goes beyond work hours I have managed to create a safe space for women to proliferate and feel motivated to go after their goals.

I currently mentor five women from different walks of life ranging from fresh college pass out to someone with 10 years of work experience and being able to develop this circle has been the most gratifying facet of my professional career

I also have a peer group consisting of past workmates and LinkedIn acquaintances and we often gnaw at each other brains for tips and advice
