MUMBAI: Encouraged by the continuing success of CSI, US broadcaster the Viacom owned CBS has ordered another crime based show.

Numbers deals with an FBI agent played by Rob Morrow, who recruits his mathematical genius brother to help the Bureau solve a wide range of challenging crimes in Los Angeles.

The two brothers take on the most confounding criminal cases from a very distinctive perspective. Inspired by actual cases, the series will depict how the confluence of police work and mathematics provide unexpected revelations and answers to the most perplexing criminal questions.

It represents the first drama television series from directors Ridley Scott Black Hawk Down, Gladiator and Tony Scott Top Gun.

Meanwhile the Scott brothers are also executive producing a new adaptation of Michael Crichton's book The Andromeda Strain as a Sci Fi miniseries. The pilot for Numbers was somewhat re-conceived, with actors Michael Rooker and Gabriel Macht exiting and Morrow coming on.
