MUMBAI: ?Anger Management?, the sitcom starring Charlie Sheen and created by Executive Producer Bruce Helford, has received a 90-episode order from FX.

In Anger Management, Sheen stars as "Charlie Goodson," a non-traditional therapist specialising in anger management. He has a successful private practice, holding sessions with his group of primary patient regulars each week, as well as performing pro bono counseling for an inmate group at a state prison.

Charlie thrives on the chaos in his life while still battling his own anger issues. His life is complicated by his relationships with his own therapist/best friend (Selma Blair), an ex-wife whose positive outlook but poor choice in men frustrates Charlie (Shawnee Smith), and their 15-year-old daughter (Daniela Bobadilla).

As part of its original deal, if Anger Management met a designated average ratings threshold over the airing of eight of the first ten episodes of the series, then it would trigger an automatic, additional 90-episode order from the network. Anger Management is the highest-rated new comedy series on cable in 2012, averaging 4.53 million Total Viewers and 2.5 million Adults 18-49.

FX Networks executive VP Chuck Saftler said, "We set a very high ratings bar that included some additional hurdles for Anger Management to earn its back-90 order and the series met and exceed those metrics. Bruce Helford has created a sitcom that works extremely well in our pre-10 p.m. programming lineup. Charlie Sheen and the entire cast did an amazing job in the first ten episodes, which were produced in a very tight window. I have no doubt that the producers and cast will be able to pull off the Herculean task of producing 90 episodes over the next two years."

Sheen?s father Martin Sheen will join the cast of Anger Management in a recurring role, playing "Martin Goodson his father.

Lionsgate Television Group president Kevin Beggs said, "Charlie Sheen is one of the great comedy superstars of our generation, Bruce Helford is an exceptional showrunner and FX has been a visionary partner who recognized the show?s tremendous potential from the outset. We?re thrilled that our team has created another powerful and enduring Lionsgate brand that will resonate with audiences around the world for many years to come."

MUMBAI: Continuing the diversification of its television business, Lionsgate is partnering with television and music entrepreneur and producer Simon Fuller to develop a contemporary television musical drama chronicling the lives and loves of a young California rock ?n? roll band.

Fuller?s 25-year entertainment career has been highlighted by innovation and number one hits in TV, film, music, sports and fashion, and he has become famous for creating and producing ?American Idol?, developing the Beckhams into one of the world?s most recognisable talent brands and guiding the careers of music stars, such as Annie Lennox, Kelly Clarkson, The Spice Girls, Amy Winehouse, Carrie Underwood, Daughtry, David Cook, Adam Lambert and hit songwriter Cathy Dennis. He currently serves as Executive Producer on ?American Idol?, ?So You Think You Can Dance? and ?Q?Viva!: The Chosen?.

Lionsgate Television Group President Kevin Beggs and Lionsgate Television COO Sandra Stern said, "Simon Fuller has created some of the most successful and enduring franchises in entertainment today. We believe that this musical drama about a young rock ?n? roll band will have global resonance with the same young audiences that have fueled the success of other Lionsgate franchises. From American Idol to Spice Girls, Simon has consistently demonstrated the ability to generate brands and formats with enormous worldwide appeal."

Fuller said, "I am full of positive anticipation for this new collaboration and delighted to partner with Jon Feltheimer, Kevin Beggs and the rest of the team at Lionsgate, one of the most dynamic and innovative companies in the entertainment industry. From ?Mad Men? and ?Weeds? to ?The Hunger Games?, Lionsgate has demonstrated the global perspective, creative instincts and marketing prowess to build successful franchises for the future. Our combined powers and vision promise to make for an exciting new entertainment property."

Lionsgate and Fuller have already launched a search across the US for four young actors who are also skilled musicians to portray the band members. Showrunner meetings are underway, and the series is being shaped for both broadcast and cable outlets.
