MUMBAI: EduMedia Productions, the production arm of kids education company EduMedia, has stepped into the television space to create kids focussed content.

EduMedia, which has also produced 40 short films, feels its a natural extension of its offering which includes School Cinema (film-based life skills curriculum), Krayon (events), Mentor (publishing) and Activity (training).

The company feels that its extensive and thorough research in understanding the needs of kids will help its production team to make films for its School Cinema, a film-based learning programme. These films are showcased across schools and are instrumental in teaching kids about life via an edutainment platform.

EduMedia India Executive Director Tabassum Modi said, ?It?s the need of the hour to create contemporary content showcasing the realities of today. By stepping into the television space, EduMedia plans to create content that parents will want their kids to watch, something that is entertaining without being frivolous and in a format that is crisp and keeps kids captivated.?

The company said two of its films have won the 59th National Film Awards in 2012 while many of its 40 films have also been screened at over 25 film festivals across the globe.

?Media can have a very positive influence on kids if it is used the right way. But kids are usually exposed to content which may or may not be appropriate for them and can directly or indirectly affect their mindset. One needs to be responsible while creating content for kids and be sensitive to what is being communicated and how,? added Modi.
