Cartoon icons Beavis & Butt-Head to reappear at MTV music awards

MUMBAI: After seven years of being off the air, MTV US' cartoon icons Beavis And Butt-Head will make an appearance at the MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs).

Beavis & Butt-Head will present the Viewer's Choice Award at the 2005 MTV VMAs on 28 August 2005. MTV and Paramount Home Video Entertainment will also be releasing Beavis and Butt-Head: The Mike Judge Collection, Volume 1 as a DVD box set in November.

MTV states that Beavis & Butt-Head left on a high in their career. Beavis & Butt-Head was one of MTV's highest rated series ever. The movie Beavis & Butt-Head Do America, which was released in December 1996, grossed over 70 million dollars, their DVDs sold over 5 million units and the video game series sold over a million units.

MTV Networks president Van Toffler says, "We are excited to work with Beavis and Butt-Head again. But we really didn't have a choice. They were persistently calling me at work, at home, and on my cell. They wouldn't leave me alone until I agreed to take their call and help them."

Butt-Head says, "We called up Toffler and asked him to put us back on MTV so we could score. And he invited us to the VMAs and said we could put out a DVD of our stuff."
