Radio City hunts for junior RJs

MUMBAI: In a bid to expand children's listenership, Radio City 91 FM is now looking for young RJs to anchor some new programmes for children. On 17 November, they launched their Junior RJ Hunt in New Delhi, a competition that will allow several children in the 9-14 age bracket to test their gift of the gab.
Thousands of them have sent their entries with a recorded voice sample on an audio cassette explaining who is their favourite film star and how they would invite him or her to their birthday party in just three minutes. The short-listed candidates will now be judged by famous theatre personality Amir Raza Hussain through auditions. Ten participants of these will get an opportunity to co-host shows on Radio City 91 FM on select days.
Through the combined results of the auditions and a listener poll, a boy and girl will then be selected as Junior RJs to anchor children's programmes in the Radio City pipeline.
