WWE expands reach in Latin America

MUMBAI: World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) has signed a two-year agreement with FX Latin America, Fox International’s South American general entertainment channel. The agreement will provide 208 hours of original programming from 2005 through 2007.

In India WWE airs on Ten Sports.

FX Latin America will present WWE programmes translated in Spanish and Portuguese. The male-oriented channel reaches more than eight million homes in Latin America. This represents over 50 per cent of the pan-regional pay TV market.

The WWE titles acquired by Fox Latin America are WWE Velocity and WWE Experience. They will sit on the channel alongside premium movies, American TV shows and general sports.

WWE’s intl TV group senior VP Andrew Whitaker says, “We are delighted to be on air with FX Latin America. We are very pleased that our unique brand of action-entertainment will now form part of FX’s programming line-up as it continues to expand throughout Latin America. FX understands that WWE’s 52-weeks-per-year of original programming is a proven ratings success as well as a globally recognised subscription driver for pay TV channels and platforms around the world.”
