Hi Def broadcasting to be keynote for Intnl Sport Summit

MUMBAI: Sports broadcasting in high definition (HD) television has started growing in popularity in the US. Disney's ESPN has a 24 hour HD service. In its 26th year, the International Sport Summit will look at this issue in great depth. The event takes place next month in New York.
In addition, the summit will examine the marketing mechanism that the National Football League uses. It will examine the boost that soccer in America received following the Women’s World Cup. Of course, Olympic events in Torino (2006), Beijing (2008) and Vancouver (2010) will also be scrutinised.
Other topics will include expanding the cable channel universe, how Fortune 500 companies leverage sports as an investment, new video technology for sports production, repurposing sports content for use on the web and wireless platfoms, action and extreme sports and target marketing for diversity
Last year, the International Sport Summit claimed to have drawn over 1,000 sports executives at the 25th annual meeting. The Olympic Games, in the context of the Athens Games and other upcoming Olympiads, were a major topic of last year’s Summit, along with a variety of discussions on doing business in China, women’s sports and sponsorships.
