Star News gets another week's uplink extension

MUMBAI: The government today gave another week's extension from 10 July to Media Content & Communication India Pvt Ltd, in which Star holds 26 per cent equity stake, to continue uplinking news content for Star News.
The Press Trust of India had earlier reported that the Star had furnished details sought by the Home Ministry on its shareholding pattern. Media Content & Communication has a paid up capital of Rs 100,000.
The three-month deadline for foreign broadcasters to uplink from India had expired on 26 June and Star's application for uplink permission was made a week before the deadline.
Till Star's application is finally disposed of, it will have to reapply for an extension every week.
