Murdoch back to number one on MediaGuardian power list

MUMBAI: News Corp chairman and CEO Rupert Murdoch is back to number one position on the MediaGuardian 100 list, the annual ranking of media executives in the UK.

BBC director-general Greg Dyke, who occupied top spot ahead of Murdoch at number two, has tumbled to 89 this year.

 
The BBC's new chairman, Michael Grade, a new entry on the list, bagged the second position. The chairman of regulator Ofcom, David Currie maintained his number three spot, whereas, the new chairman of ITV, Sir Peter Burt, numbered four at the list and chief executive of Channel 4, Mark Thompson, made his way up to number six.. 

Other television executives on the top 100 list include Channel 4 chairman Luke Johnson (26), ITV chief executive Charles Allen (30), Sky Networks' managing director Dawn Airey (32), RTL Group's chief executive Gerhard Zeiler (40), BBC One controller Lorraine Heggessey (54), Five's chief executive Jane Lighting (60) and finally ProSieben's Haim Saban, who just made the list at 99.
