MUMBAI: To grab its due share from the Middle East region which has a significant Malayalam speaking population, regional language news channel Indiavision has taken some strategic decisions.

Joining hands with Indiavision in its efforts to widen its audience base is the Saudi Arabia-based Al Rayes group, which has reportedly invested Rs 70 million in the channel.

Indiavision is planning to set up news bureaus in six countries across the Middle East, starting with the United Arab Emirates. Expansion of its distribution set up in the region and an on-ground activity are also on the cards.

According to Indiavision chief marketing officer Issac Jacob, the channel will have major activity in some of the Middle East countries, distribution-wise. He said the channel was planning to cover six countries in the Middle East by setting up bureaus and appointing stringers. The channel's Dubai bureau was inaugurated on 15 October.

Jacob said the on-ground activity the channel is planning would be a quiz contest which would have participation by Keralite-run schools in the Middle East region.
