NEW DELHI: Zee News has put in place an aggressive programming line-up through state-of-the-art technology and viewer interface to cover the forthcoming assembly elections across five states.

The channel says it plans take the ballot box to the people of India. An impressive programming schedule and a battery of highly experienced reporters will ensure a large-sclae coverage of the elections.

Keeping in mind the nature of the elections, viewed as a build-up to the general election next year, programmes like Singhasan Ka Semi Final have already started being telecast across its prime-time news bulletins.

Zee News editor and head of programming, Alka Saxena said, "Through October and leading up to the elections in November-December, our reporters will visit each constituency through a special programme called MLA Ki Class. Reporters will look at the problems faced by people and the burning issues facing the country this time around. Zee News plans to cover over 200 constituencies though this exercise."

Given the volatile nature of elections, Zee News will be the first channel to do a weekly poll across four states - Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh. The survey will go back to the people each week to see if there has been a shift in voting patterns.

A programme called Kaun Kitne Paani Mein will be the ultimate test for a party/leader. Based on the Zee's concept of Aap Ki Adalat, this weekly programme will be a rapid fire volley of questions on a known leader from each state. Netaji Kahin will look at the people's perspective and will investigate the leaders performance since the last elections.

Continuing our debate on elections, Zee News will air a daily half-hour prime time discussion-based programme called Kissa Kursi Ka which will invite two prominent leaders from opposing political parties.

Once the candidate list is announced, Zee News reporters will be accompanying prominent leaders on their campaign. Each of these daily six minuters will be short, crisp, racy and will look at how different each campaign is.
