David Jordan is BBC's controller of editorial policy

MUMBAI: David Jordan, who was the BBC's chief adviser, politics has been appointed as the new controller of editorial policy.

Jordan succeeds Stephen Whittle, who retires from the BBC in December 2005. He said: "I look forward to the opportunity of developing Editorial Policy's partnership with programme makers to continue the tradition of robust, creative, cutting edge programmes."

BBC deputy DG Mark Byford added: "David's experience, wisdom and judgement will be key assets in his new role. He will be a strong supporter of courage, flair and creativity and he will lead an editorial policy team focussed on helping programme makers achieve their aims within a robust editorial framework."
