MUMBAI: CNBC-TV 18 has introduced CNBC-TV 18 Mobile -- a business information service targeted at the common man and the business community.

The service enables mobiles users to obtain and receive all developments in the corporate world as well as the latest updates on the stock markets by sending an SMS to 3636.

While BPL Mobile, Orange, Airtel, MTNL and Reliance support the service in Mumbai, Bharti Cellular, BPL Mobile, Idea Cellular, Hutchison Essar, Spice Communication, Oasis and Escotel carry the service in other states, said an official release.

For stock market updates through mobile phones, CNBC -TV18 Mobile messaging service has entered into a tie-up with moneycontrol.com to offer its users (those who log into moneycontrol.com) a service called Portfolio Tracker which enables mobile users to track up to 30 stocks in ones portfolio in sets of 3, added the release.

Commenting on the launch of CNBC-TV18 Mobile, CNBC-TV18 M vice president B Saikumar said, "The need to be kept informed at all times is what drives the thought behind CNBC-TV18 Mobile. While one can watch the channel at home and in the office where nearly 45% of our viewership comes from out-of-home locations, there is a need for information while constantly on the move. The service is extremely comprehensive, easy-to-use and accessible across all networks in the country. This is only the beginning of the initiative. We're currently exploring different applications to increase the level of services and thereby reach larger audiences."
