Channel 7 looks to enter international market; ties up with Num TV.com

MUMBAI: Channel 7 has signed a licensing agreement with NumTV.com, one of the largest web portals in the world, marking the channel’s availability on broadband worldwide.

The licensing agreement will enable Channel 7 to reach over two million users of Num TV in 38 countries, with its brand of news reporting and newsplus programming.
The channel will be available at $2 per month for all subscribers. As per the agreement, NumTV will not control the content of the channel, but will just play the role similar to that of cable operator, of beaming the channel through the Internet.

"Channel 7’s stories on the recent Aishwarya Rai-Salman Khan controversy drove lot of traffic to the channel through NumTV at the sampling stage. This convinced us of the importance of a worldwide presence for a desired impact. Channel 7 will be looking at the international market seriously and tapping the NRIs is going to be one of the steps the channel will be taking to move up the growth ladder," said COO Piyush Jain.
