MUMBAI: Barco is now looking at dedicating attention to the Asian market and has in this regard the company has appointed a regional president - Jacques Bertrand, responsible for the whole Asia Pacific region.

Up till now the president responsible for the A-Pac region was also in charge of Europe, the Middle East and Latin America. While business is growing in the latter regions, the opportunities to increase Barco's sales volume in Asia Pacific justify the appointment of a member of Barco's executive team solely dedicated to this region.

Global Sales and Services president Luc Kindt, who coordinates the activities of the regional presidents, states that this redivision of tasks fits within the overall growth strategy to expand operations in Asia Pacific, while continuing to invest in the other continents. The growing importance of Asia Pacific, now 22 per cent of revenues, calls for an increase of Barco's local presence.

Bertrand, who was in charge of Barco in Japan, has accepted the new position of president Asia Pacific and will be responsible for all Barco activities in China, Korea, India, Taiwan, Australia and South East Asia, as well as Japan. Bertrand lives in Japan and has accumulated an extensive experience in all Asian markets for more than 12 years.

Bernard Dursin, till now also in charge of the Asia Pacific markets, will now be regional president for Europe, the Middle East and Latin America and will be focussing on these areas, which which still make up for 44 per cent of the total sales of Barco.

With the appointment of Dave Scott at the end of last year as president North America, this announcement completes the new regional coverage Barco wanted to implement for a better approach of its world wide markets.
