VH1 will do it like a superstar

MUMBAI: Viacom recently launched its English music channel VH1 in India. The channel however is not only about music. It also dabbles with the lifestyle genre which gives the channel a decidedly aspirational feel.

One of its unique shows that will air every alternate Sunday at 10 pm is Do it Like a Superstar.. Each show focusses on one aspect of life and celebrities' approach to it.

To give an example one topic that will be covered is dating. When it comes to dating it seems that famous people make their own rules. However there is a certain order to the seemingly chaotic universe of the revolving-door romance. In Do It Like A Superstar: Dating, VH1 takes a scientific approach to celebrity dating. It has broken the process down into a half hour easy-to-follow visual guidebook.

It all starts with the pre-date screening process, in which celebrities weed out undesirables with the help of their managers and personal assistants. Judgments on prospective dating candidates are based on the candidate’s career status.

On 29 January at 6 pm its All Access series will have a Best and Worst Dressed episode. The one hour special looks at today's hottest stars and the outfits they wear and sometimes shouldn't! The show will deliver the dish on celebrities who've got sensational style or should be arrested for fashion felonies. The show will feature a panel of around 10 stylists, designers and comedians.

The All Access series offers an insider's look into the world of rock 'n' roll, from money to fashion to feuds and more. On 17 January at 10 pm the series goes Skin Deep. Beauty may only be skin deep, but in the Rock World, that adage is taken very seriously. Most artists will do just about anything to stay young, thin and beautiful. But what happens when Rock Stars feel they need help beyond the gym, and the diet pill? In lots of cases, they turn to the knife.

The episode looks at two of music’s biggest symbols of plastic surgery: Cher and Michael Jackson. VH1 talks to the man who witnessed Jackson’s transformation first hand. Dr. Steven Hoefflin was Jackson’s plastic surgeon for nearly two decades. Hoefflin tells VH1 what work he did, in spite of Jackson's recent denials, and what may have motivated the singer to so drastically change his looks.
