Fremantle bringing music, factual docs to Mipcom

MUMBAI: Fremantle Home Entertainment (FHE), the home entertainment division of television format creator FremantleMedia has announced that it will bring a raft of music and factual documentary titles at Mipcom 2005.

The event takes place from 17-21 October 2005 in Cannes

The documentary Punk: Attitude takes an original look at the Punk movement and features a cast of historic and modern figures in popular culture including Henry Rollins, Tommy Ramone, Steve Jones, Siouxsie Sioux and Chrissie Hynde. It ventures beyond the music, the fashion and the hype looking at the influence of bands such as The Clash, The Velvet Underground, Ramones, Sex Pistols, Talking Heads and many more. DVD extras include an interactive Punk family tree, Where They Are Now feature and over 110 minutes of featurettes.

The one hour documentary Hutchence documents the story of Michael Hutchence who used to front the rock group INXS. The documentary traces his rise from obscure Sydney bar rooms and clubs to stadiums all over the world. Featuring interviews with many of Hutchence's close friends and contemporaries, the film sensitively investigates the pressures and demons that spurred his success and, ultimately, led to his spiral into depression and eventual suicide.

Also debuting at Mipcom are the factual entertainment titles, Jamie's School Dinners and Jamie's Great Italian Escape and documentaries, Naked Science, Nigel Marven's Venom Hunters and Animal Detectives and Killer Ice.

Jamie's School Dinners follows the trials and tribulations of the celebrity chef Jamie Oliver as he takes charge of 20,000 school dinners a day across one London borough He discovers what young people are eating, how the food is prepared and ways in which their school meals could be improved, working with catering staff and talking to the students. DVD special features include deleted scenes and Jamie's top tips for getting kids to try something new. Jamie's Great Italian Escape sees Jamie escape to Italy in his camper van after a year of fighting junk food to reignite his passion for cooking and his love of good-quality ingredients. His quest for inspiration leads him off the beaten track - going back to basics, living off the land, meeting the locals and cooking up traditional Italian food in his own unique style.

The series Naked Science unveils the truth behind some of the most popular and controversial scientific topics of our time. Each episode takes the viewer through the various threads of scientific investigation, using the latest CGI techniques, and follows leading protagonists and researchers as they sift through the evidence revealing fascinating stories and thrilling new investigations. This fast-moving title uses dramatic reconstructions and special effects in a highly visual and compelling style.

Nature and science combine in the one hour special Killer Ice which documents the power ice has to disrupt our lives and reshape our world, while Nigel Marven's Venom Hunters & Animal Detectives sees award-winning naturalist and filmmaker, Nigel Marven, in search of the world's most venomous animals and reveals how life-saving drugs are being developed from deadly venom. With scientific experiments at some of the world's top laboratories, can venom from a deadly snake really help to cure cancer and diabetes?
