MUMBAI: This is a first for the Idol music-based reality show anywhere. On Canada Idol , competitors tomorrow 19 August will accompany themselves on musical instruments

On CTV, the six remaining competitors will not only sing but also play guitar, piano, bass, mandolin and fiddle. CTV programming president Susanne Boyce added, "Canadian Idol is recognised as being one of the most innovative and successful Idol franchises in the world.

"We are blessed with a group of competitors who are not only outstanding singers, but talented musicians as
well. Thursday night's show will add another fantastic dimension to the Canadian Idol phenomenon."

There are 25 versions of Idol globally. As has been reported earlier by indiantelevision.com Indian Idol kicks off on Sony in October. The ground activities across 10 cities kicked off yesterday.
