MUMBAI: The fourth season of American Idol on Fox is not yet over but already one of the contestants has something to smile about.

Constantine Maroulis' rock band has been signed up by a record label.

Pray for the Soul of Betty, the rock band Maroulis fronted before auditioning for American Idol to the camera-captured disdain of some of his bandmates -- will see its self-titled album hit music stores next month.

Koch Records will release the album. The record company has stated that Pray for the Soul of Betty draws influences from Led Zeppelin, Soundgarden and Queens of the Stone Age, and sounds distinctively like a New York City band should sound: intense, raw and powerful.

Koch Records GM Alan Grunblatt said, "Pray For the Soul of Betty is one of the best rock bands I've heard in years. Considering how popular Constantine Maroulis is, we should go gold for sure!"
