'American Idol'' champ Fantasia to release debut single 22 June

MUMBAI: Last month she emerged triumphant on Fox's music based reality show American Idol. The question now is whether Americans will buy Fantasia's music.

Fantasia will release her J Records' debut single I Believe on 22 June. The song was written by Tamyra Gray who had contested during the show's first season

I Believe will be worked simultaneously to multiple formats. At retail chains the single will feature two additional tracks Summertime and Chain of Fools. In India American Idol airs on Star World.

The announcement of the single's release was made by BMG North America chairman and CEO Clive Davis. The singer was chosen as the winner on the third season of Fox's show which had kicked off with around 70,000 contestants. Fantasia had delivered an emotion-filled rendition of Summertime on 25 May which was the season finale.

The 19-year-old Fantasia from High Point, North Carolina beat the runner-up 16-year-old Diana DeGarmo by around 1.3 million votes. Fox had opened up four phone lines so that voters across America could choose between them.
