AXN to showcase 'The Amazing Race 4' escapades

MUMBAI: AXN is all set to take viewers on yet another Amazing Race.

The Amazing Race 4 kick-starts off on the channel on 30 May at 9 pm with a special 90-minute episode. As with previous seasons, participants set forth on their voyage into the unknown, and follow their fortunes in exotic destinations and the quest for one million US dollars.
From producer Jerry Bruckheimer (The Rock,) the show sees 12 teams, including a pair of circus clowns, models, and even a couple who have been dating for 12 years and are still virgins, embark on a once-in-a-lifetime adventure race around the world.
As the 12 teams of two each race around the world, they face a series of mental and physical hurdles before they can move on to the next destination. The use of cell phones is prohibited, the teams are allowed to carry only a limited amount of cash. They also have to travel by the designated modes of transportation,. These include planes, buses, taxis, bicycles, autorickshaws and even camels.
An official release informs that in order to make the challenges more difficult and exciting, contestants encounter "Road Blocks" - tasks that must be completed before they can advance to the next stage. Only after a leg of the race has been completed successfully do the teams find out what their next destination is. In this race against time, the last team to arrive at a destination will be eliminated. The team that arrives at the final destination first wins US $1 million.
In the premiere episode, the teams are galvanised into action at Dodgers Stadium in LA before making their way to Milan, Italy. Several teams form friendships causing tensions to rise, while another team almost misses their opportunity for one night's sleep, while others embrace the thrill of zip gliding.
From Italy, the pairs travel to the Cinque Torri area of the Alps and must do a Fear Factor in the Alps - choose between searching for an object hidden in the snow or walking across a rope bridge and then riding a zip line between two high peaks.
Speaking on the programme initiative Asst. VP, SET Rohit Bhandari said, " In addition to the AXN mantra of daring, adventurous and irreverent, The Amazing Race brings thrills, spills and human drama - the best of its kind. There's no other reality series that, in a space of 1 hour every week, shows more human drama, more adventure, more gut-wrenching challenges, or more of the world than The Amazing Race. With its unfamiliar destinations, the race against time, shoestring budget, and spanning across continents, this fantastic series provides that rush of adrenaline that is so distinctive of the channel."
