AXN brings award-winning series 'The Shield' to India in Nov

MUMBAI: Action and adventure channel AXN will launch hard-hitting reality series The Shield in India, from 2 November.
Every Sunday, the channel will air two episodes of the series back-to-back at 10 pm.

The Shield stars Michael Chiklis, CCH Pounder and Benito Martinez and revolves around a bizarre concept of morality and ethics.
Conceived and produced by Shawn Ryan, The Shield is the story of the twisted road to justice, revolving around the lives of a Los Angeles police precinct, a company release states. Ryan's other popular series include Angel and Nash Bridges.
The Shield - a multiple award winner - shrewdly portrays corruption amongst the posse of Los Angeles policemen. The plot shows how protagonist Vic Mackey (Chiklis) and his Strike Team have to resort to underhanded means to keep crime at bay.
The release quoted AXN's assistant V-P (sales and marketing) Rohit Bhandari, as saying, "The Shield has enriched our repertoire of quality shows. It has added to our offering of a potent mix of action, reality and irreverence, which when put together, gives an electrifying buzz, and nothing less than the best that television has to offer for our viewers in India."
The Shield has garnered Golden Globe Awards for best television series - drama in 2003. Chiklis himself has won the Golden Globe best performance by an actor award in 2003, Emmy Award for outstanding lead actor in a drama series in 2002 and TCA Award for individual achievement in Drama in 2002. Actress Pounder won the Golden Satellite Award for best performance by an actress in a series- Drama in 2003.
