Urdu Channel TV One hops aboard Asiasat

MUMBAI: Satellite operator Asiasat and Pakistan's Airwaves Media have announced the signing of a lease agreement.

The deal is for C-band capacity on Asiasat 3S for digital free to air distribution of a new Urdu television channel, TV One, to Pakistan and over 50 countries and regions in the Asia Pacific.
 
 

TV One has commenced broadcasting on Asiasat 3S. It offers a mix of programming content including news and current affairs, entertainment, drama and music. Airwaves Media chairman Taher A. Khan said, "We are very excited about the launch of our new channel TV One on Asiasat 3S marking a new era of our media services in Asia. By broadcasting on Asia's most popular satellite platform and in free to air format, we are able to rapidly grow our television viewership across our country and beyond."

Asiasat CEO Peter Jackson said, "We are very pleased to have TV One on Asiasat 3S, catering for the Urdu speaking community in Asia. This new addition further strengthens our television neighbourhood for the South Asian market, affirming Asiasat's leading position in regional and local language programming here in Asia".
