'Desperate Housewives' leads nominee list at TV Critics Association

MUMBAI: The Television Critics Association in the US has unveiled the 2005 TCA Award nominations.

ABC's hit show Desperate Housewives received five nominations. As had been reported earlier by Indiantelevision.com, Star World will air the black comedy from next month.

ABCs adventure series Lost and Comedy Centrals The Daily Show With Jon Stewart got four nominations each. The ceremony takes place on 23 July at the Beverly Hilton Hotel

ABC has 11 nominations. Fox got eight nominations and HBO received seven nods. For the fourth year in a row, the TCA chose candidates for its Heritage Award, which recognises a long-standing program that made a lasting cultural or social impact. PBS has two shows nominated in this legacy category: Sesame Street and Frontline.

The drama category sees Lost facing off against Fox's action show 24 which airs in India on AXN, HBOs Deadwood, House and FXs Rescue Me. In TV movies/mini-series/specials category the nominees are BBC Americas The Office special and four HBO titles: Lackawanna Blues, The Life and Death of Peter Sellers, Something the Lord Made and Sometimes in April.
