'24', 'Lost' among AFI's best TV shows of the year

MUMBAI: The American Film Institute (AFI) has announced the official selections of AFI Awards 2005.

In television the list of the best shows includes the action packed 24, the adventure drama Lost and the hospital soap Grey's Anatomy. Surprisingly Desperate Housewives failed to make the cut.

As far as film is concerned Steven Spielberg's Munich, the revenge thriller A History Of Violence and Goodnight And Good Luck which tells an important story in the history of American news journalism feature in the top ten.

AFI says that unlike any other film or television award currently given, its selections were made through AFI's unique 13-person jury process in which scholars, artists, critics and AFI trustees discuss, debate and determine the most outstanding achievements of the year, as well as provide a detailed rationale for each selection. Two AFI juries-one for motion pictures and one for television-convened in Los Angeles for two days of deliberation.
