Watch an explorer and an unusual animal on the National Geographic Channel

Kingsley Holgate an explorer travels through Africa tomorrow 15 December at 11pm His role model is Dr. David Livingstone an explorer and missionary doctor from the Elizabethan period. Holgate is a member of the Royal Geographic Society. The program is called 'In The Footsteps of Livingstone'.

He starts his exploration from Cape Town and treks through the country following the footsteps of Chuma and Susi two exploeres of the past whose work went unnoticed. When Livingstone died they buried his heart under a giant Mapunda tree. His dead body was carried over a distance of 1000 miles.

On 24 December at 9pm the channel will show Snake Killer: Honey Badger. This creature is not well known even though its lifestyle is rather glamorous. The Honey Badger feeds on animals considered dangerous to man such as bees, snakes and scorpions. Occasionally it also goes after antelopes and buffalo's showing that it knows no fear. The program will showcase the animals hunting patterns how it comes into conflict with other animals as well as nature. Its family life is no less poignant and affecting.
