'Desperate Housewives', 'Lost' among Screen Actors Guild nominees

MUMBAI: Nominations for the 12th Annual Screen Actors Guild (Sag) Awards in the US for performances in 2005 in five film and eight primetime television categories have been announced.
The show takes place on 29 Janaury 2006 in Los Angeles.
The Desperate Housewives who live on Wisteria Lane have been nominated for best comedy series ensemble. They are joined by Everybody Loves Raymond, Arrested Development, Curb Your Enthusiasm and My Name Is Earl.
The nominees for drama series ensemble are the action adventure show Lost, The Closer, Grey's Anatomy, Six Feet Under and The West Wing. For ensemble acting in a film the nominees are Ang Lee's gay western Brokeback Mountain, Crash, Capote, Good Night and Good Luck and Hustle and Flow.
What makes Sag different is that among the top industry accolades only Sag is selected purely by actors’ peers. Two randomly selected panels--one for television and one for film--each comprised of 2,100 Sag members from across the US, chose this year’s nominees.
